Ways to get rid of Bad Breath

April 15, 2017

The discovery of Chewing gums is certainly a life saver when it comes to fighting bad breath. However, chewing gum is not the only dependable item we have when it comes to getting rid of bad breath. Below is a list of things you can use to get rid of breath:

  1. Mouthwash Dry mouth is breeding ground for bacteria that causes bad breath. Therefore, it is important to use an alcohol-free mouthwash since alcohol actually dries your mouth. Cleaning your mouth with a mouthwash helps you wash away bacteria that causes bad odor as well as cavity-causing bacteria.
  2. Eat your veggies and fruits hard, crunchy foods like apples, celery, carrots and more act like a natural toothbrush. The texture of these foods can help you remove food particles that easily gets stuck between your teeth.
  3. Fresh Mint This calming and soothing herb not helps with digestion but is also a great palate cleanser. If you want to get rid of bad breath instantly, then try chewing on fresh mint leaves instead of popping a mint candy. A mint candy does help with getting rid of bad breath, but it also contains sugar that only breeds bacteria that leads to tooth decay.
  4. Drink Water The point is to keep your mouth moist. That being said, liquids like sodas, sports drinks or bottled iced teas cannot be substituted with water. The mentioned drinks are acidic that not only contributes to bad breath, but it also wears away tooth enamel. Water, on the other hand, keeps your mouth lubricated and keeps the odor-causing bacteria at bay.

All being said and done in the end, you should still visit your Raritan NJ dentist at least twice a year in order to improve & maintain your oral health.
